BMT WBM is a specialist consultancy and part of the global BMT Group, with 11 offices in Australia, the UK and the US. The company’s team of engineers, biologists and scientists focus on the application of leading edge technology in the fields of engineering and environment.
It was identified that technical leaders in Brisbane and Sydney in positions that had significant impact on staff productivity and engagement, would benefit from training to lead, grow and unite teams.
The traditional organisational emphasis on technical excellence meant that lack of leadership experience and capability was resulting in inconsistent application of policy, increased conflict and poor communication.
Caroline developed a customised six-month program to support the areas of greatest need, focusing on broad commercial and leadership skills to assist team leaders to become more effective in their roles.
Monthly workshops were tailored to the organisation and its systems and topics included:
financial principles and accountability
building and maintaining successful teams
business planning and business development
courageous conversations and managing performance
financial systems and processes
time management and prioritisation
A Yammer group was established to store resources, promote discussion and to assign tasks to be completed between workshops.
The workshops reportedly provided the participants the opportunity to discuss concepts in depth with a group of their peers, experiencing similar situations.
One on one coaching was also provided as required.
